Last week, we were delighted to visit Newfield School alongside our health and safety mascot, Sammy Safesite, to speak with pupils about the exciting progress being made on their new school extension.
The project, which is nearing completion, will provide five new classrooms to support the growing needs of the school and create an enhanced learning environment for pupils and staff.
During the visit our Site Manager Jason Knowles spoke to pupils about the work taking place on site, explaining how the extension is being built and sharing insight into the construction process. The session gave pupils the opportunity to learn more about the project happening at their school and ask questions about the different stages of the build.
The pupils were incredibly engaged throughout the visit, asking lots of thoughtful and enthusiastic questions about construction, health and safety, and what their new classrooms will look like once complete. It was fantastic to see so much interest and curiosity from the students.
Of course, one of the highlights of the day was the appearance of Sammy Safesite, who proved very popular with pupils and staff alike. The children enjoyed meeting Sammy, posing for photographs, and learning about the importance of staying safe both on and around construction sites.
Engaging with local schools and communities is an important part of our social value commitments, and visits like this are a great way to help young people understand more about the construction industry while feeling connected to the development taking place at their school.

Sammy Safesite may even be making another appearance soon, with plans for a future visit to take pupils on a tour of their new building as the project continues to progress.
