We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the contract by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) to deliver the refurbishment of the Jean Heyes Reablement Ward at Leigh Infirmary.
The appointment reinforces our position as a trusted delivery partner for specialist healthcare construction, with the project continuing our commitment to creating high-quality clinical environments that support both patients and healthcare professionals across the NHS estate.
The project will see the unit comprehensively remodelled and modernised to create a purpose-built reablement ward. Through a complete internal refurbishment and significant upgrades to the building fabric and infrastructure, the transformed facility will provide a high-quality clinical environment designed to support patient recovery and enhance the day-to-day experience of both patients and healthcare professionals.
The ward proudly bears the name of Jean Heyes, a much-loved former nurse who dedicated more than 50 years of service to healthcare across the Wigan Borough. A passionate advocate for reablement throughout her career, Jean’s commitment to helping patients regain their independence continues to inspire the purpose of the ward that carries her name.
Reablement plays a vital role in supporting people as they recover from illness or injury, helping them regain confidence and independence before returning home. Modern, well-designed clinical environments are fundamental to this process, providing patients and staff with facilities that support effective rehabilitation and person-centred care.
We are proud to contribute to the ongoing development of a ward that honours Jean’s legacy while ensuring it continues to meet the needs of modern healthcare.
Working within operational healthcare settings requires specialist expertise, meticulous planning and a clear understanding of how hospitals function.
Although the refurbishment will be contained within the Jean Heyes Reablement Ward, Leigh Infirmary will continue to operate throughout the construction programme. Protecting patients, staff and visitors while maintaining the continuity of clinical services will remain our highest priority.
Our experienced healthcare delivery teams understand the complexities of working within live hospital environments. From carefully phased demolition and refurbishment works to infection prevention measures, logistics planning and the management of noise, dust and vibration, every aspect of the project will be planned and delivered to minimise disruption to surrounding hospital services.
